People Will Always Need Plates

with one comment

Music´s a funny thing.  I have a desire to buy an electric guitar and an accoustic bass.  I can play neither, but I really really want to own them.   I can play them a bit, I am not entirely clueless - I kind of understand how to do it, but can´t quite fumble around to make the right noises.  No matter, I need to own an electric guitar.

I cannot walk past music shops without going in and staring longingly.   Some people go into pet shops to gaze at puppies and parrots, I go into music shops and touch guitars and drums.

It would have been kinder to have made me a musician.

It doesn´t work like that though.  My IQ test reckons I´m a spatial mathametician.  What the heck use is that?  Does that mean I can add up spaces to make bigger spaces?  Divide them by the sum of the squares and integrate the coefficient?  No - but I can read a map, so perhaps it´s all part of that.

Reading a map is very useful - it´s akin to having a pottery GCSE - as Maureen Lipman said, “people will always need plates” - yeah, but who wants to make them?  Making a plate is poor substitute for rockin´ and rollin´.

  1. Lol. Great little post.

I can’t read a map and I am useless with directions so in my opinion, your inbuilt Sat Nav is a great gift.

Coincidentally, today I bought a guitar stand and a music stand for my little boy who is learning to play the guitar. They are going to be Christmas pressies for him.

He wants an electric guitar for Christmas. I hope he’s not too disappointed - I felt he should stick with learning on the acoustic for the time being so he won’t be getting one. I did try to explain but as parents, we do tangle ourselves up in our lies with this Santa myth.

Anyway, I hope was the right decision.

But you are an adult so you don’t have to depend on stupid parental decisions that are justified, ludicrously, by common-sense. Buy an electric guitar Zeddie. Do it.
